Middleham Football Club Wins First League Match!!

Following the match on Saturday 8 October, match official Martyn Coombs wrote to the Hillsprint Hambleton Football Combination League as follows:

‘The last time I refereed at Middleham was on Sunday December 18, 1989 v Robert Thompsons ending in a 1-0 victory to Middleham, These were the days of Andy Wrest, Andy Reaks et al and it was an absolute pleasure to be there again this morning for the first league game in 17 years. The pitch was magnificent and the backdrop amazing and we even had a crowd numbering in excess of 100. The game was competitive ending in a 3-2 victory to Middleham but Brompton really did play their part in a thoroughly entertaining game. I was made to feel welcome from the moment I arrived at the ground which was a credit top both teams and officials. It was feisty at times, some super tackles and it was played in a great spirit and I felt privileged to have been the referee when football came home to Middleham.’

Well done Middleham FC!
