Policing in Middleham

Middleham is policed as part of the Richmondshire District. The local police station is on Grove Square at Leyburn, with the main one being at Richmond itself.  Response and Traffic officers patrol the whole 509 square miles of the district 24/7, attending and dealing in the first instance with such incidents as crimes, concerns for safety, road traffic collisions and suspicious occurrences.

They are supported locally by the Dales Neighbourhood Police Team, comprising a Richmondshire Inspector and Sergeant, and a Leyburn based Beat Manager and three Police Community Support Officers. The Neighbourhood Police Team works closely with the community and partner agencies to solve longer term problems, safeguard vulnerable people and provide high visibility reassurance patrols. They also work alongside watch and front counter volunteers.  Specialist force resources such as CID, Forensic Services, Dogs, and Air Support (to name but a few) are available too.

The police can be contacted for urgent ongoing matters on 999, with less time critical incidents on 101 or via the website. Further details on local policing can be obtained from North Yorkshire Police policing in Richmondshire from where there is a link to details of the local officers.

If you wish to receive email bulletins from North Yorkshire Police on local issues and guidance on staying safe, please register at North Yorkshire Police community messaging

The Community Police Team publishes a monthly newsletter on their recent activity which it circulates all parishes in its area and is displayed on the Council noticeboards.
