North Yorkshire Independent Police Advisory Group Team is currently running a campaign to recruit new members.

What is an IAG?
An Independent Advisory Group is a panel of volunteers who are committed to working with North Yorkshire Police by providing advice and support on a number of issues.  The aim of the group is to improve local policing, with you acting as a vital link between your community and the police.

Would it suit you?
We are asking for people who reflect the composition of our communities and who have an interest in North Yorkshire. We would like to encourage people from all communities and backgrounds to put their names forward to help North Yorkshire Police keep your local area a safe place to work and live.  Just to say, having a criminal record or being of no fixed address does not mean you cannot take part. We are looking for people who care about
their community and want to be involved. The only requirement is being able receive and send emails.

When?
Don’t worry – we’re not asking you to attend lengthy monthly meetings or anything like that.  It’s a virtual group so everything will be done via email, surveys or online. We might just ask that you provide your feedback within a set
timescale.

Where?
The group meetings will now be held virtually as and when needed. We will communicate with you using Community Messaging, email and meetings will be held using Teams software.

What?
By joining the IAG you’ll be invited to provide feedback and opinions on issues such as critical incidents, operational practices and planning and force policies and procedures and the impact they may have on your area. By working with us, your feedback and guidance will help us to shape our policing response, benefiting your local communities and beyond.

Making a real difference!
As a member of our panel you will be vital in giving us an impartial view and opinion on a variety of issues. Although we cannot always act on everything, we will always value your ideas and thoughts. We look forward to hearing from you and working together to keep North Yorkshire safe.  We’re looking for people from North Yorkshire to join our
Independent Advisory Group (IAG).

Join now!
If you’re interested in joining our virtual IAG please email iag@northyorkshire.police.uk and give us an idea of why you’d like to take part, a summary of your experience and interests and links to your community. Please also include your location, so we can contact you on the matters that affect your community the most.
