Collections of garden waste re-start across Richmondshire next week (February 22) – for householders signed up to the district council scheme.
So far more than 5717 homes have subscribed to the scheme – which sees green waste collected from the kerbside every fortnight between February and November.
Subscription renewals for the February 2021 to January 2022 period are now due. Prices have been frozen at £25 a year for the collection of one green wheelie bin with additional bins costing £17 a year.
Current subscribers should visit richmondshire.gov.uk and either sign into their ‘my account’ or follow the link on the home page – or call the council on 01748 829100. Households can join the scheme at any time during the year, but there are no discounts. Collections of garden waste are suspended during the winter months apart from one collection to remove Christmas trees and garden waste in January, which must be pre-booked.
People not using the scheme are asked to compost their garden waste or take it to a household waste recycling centre.
